Wolves Win Fifth Straight, 2-1 Over San Antonio

Right wing Tim Stapleton netted the game-winner for Chicago (23-16-0-2), while Wolves netminder Peter Mannino (10-3-0) thwarted 32 of 33 shots to backstop the Wolves to their season-high fifth straight win. Left wing Brett Sterling also tallied for Chicago.

Left wing Stefan Meyer opened the scoring for San Antonio (17-19-3-2) at 3:40 of the first period. Defensemen Sean Sullivan intercepted a pass by a Wolves defenseman and dished it across to Meyer, who slid a shot through Mannino’s five-hole.

Sterling evened up the score for the Wolves on a breakaway at 14:37 of the second period. Sterling picked up the puck off a turnover in the Rampage offensive zone and skated up the ice before wristing a shot, top-shelf, into the far corner.

Stapleton put Chicago on top, 2-1, at 11:57 of the third period. Crossing the goal line, right wing Joey Crabb sent a backhanded pass across the ice and into the crease, where a streaking Stapleton shoved the puck past Rampage goaltender Josh Tordjman.

Tordjman (9-10-0) posted 38 saves for the Rampage.
