Fifty-one seconds into the opening frame, Hunt tipped in a shot from defenseman Brian Sipotz to give the Wolves an early 1-0 lead. Rivermen goaltender Ben Bishop made an initial save but the rebound came out and was passed around to Sipotz on the point, who sent a shot through traffic, which Hunt got his stick on and tipped out of mid-air.
The Wolves made it 2-0 with a power-play tally at 14:21 of the second period. Center Jason Krog sent a pass through the zone to right wing Tim Stapleton, who dished it back to Vishnevskiy. Set up on the point, Vishnevskiy wound up and sent a slap shot past Peoria goaltender Ben Bishop for the goal.
Bishop (16-15-3) posted 32 saves in the winning effort.
Center Nicholas Drazenovic brought Peoria (27-15-1-5) to within one on a five-on-three mad-advantage at 16:58. Derek Armstrong took a shot from the slot, which Wolves netminder Drew MacIntyre pushed away, but Drazenovic was there on the goal line to roof the puck home, near-post.
Drazenovic notched his second goal of the game to even the score at two, 45 seconds into the third stanza. Skating coast to coast up the ice, the centerman skated into the slot and wristed a shot that beat MacIntyre, glove-side, slipping into the upper corner and under the crossbar.
Right wing Adam Cracknell gave the Rivermen their first lead of the game, 1:52 later in the period. Crossing the blueline, Ryan Reaves poked the puck through two defenseman and out to Cracknell. Cracknell then wristed a shot that flew past MacIntyre, near-post, for the 3-2 lead.
MacIntyre (16-12-1) recorded 24 saves, but saw his career-high eight-game win streak come to an end in the losing effort.
The Wolves will play the sixth game of the Amtrak Rivalry when they head to Milwaukee to take on the Admirals at the Bradley Center tomorrow, Feb. 27, at 7:30 p.m.
