The Chicago Wolves have signed defenseman Will Colbert (COLE-bert) to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO).
COLBERT has appeared in 58 outings with the ECHL’s Gwinnett Gladiators and shares first among team defensemen with six goals and ranks third among club blueliners with 12 points. The 26-year-old blueliner made his American Hockey League debut in 19 games with the Worcester Sharks last season, notching one assist. He also tallied four goals and nine points in 37 tilts with the ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings last season.
Prior to turning pro, the Arnprior, Ontario, native spent four seasons at St. Francis Xavier University (Atlantic University Sport), where he amassed 53 points (12G, 41A) in 109 career outings from 2005 to 2009. COLBERT also spent three seasons with the Ontario Hockey League’s Ottawa 67’s, recording 51 assists and 61 points in 179 games from 2002 to 2005.
The Wolves host the Rockford IceHogs at the Allstate Arena today at 3 p.m.
